    Published 22/08/24

The Oakwood Academy, part of Redhill Academy Trust, celebrated recent exam results as over half of students achieved the important benchmark of obtaining at least a grade 4 in maths, English and science.

Headteacher Mr Andrew Gilbert said: "This group of students were hard working and committed to their achievement. They worked well together and with staff, leading to outstanding individual performances, and we are delighted that so many students have excellent results, reflecting their ability, effort and commitment.”

"They have been well-prepared by our committed and skilful staff, to whom I am grateful for their conscientious hard work in teaching, supporting and nurturing students throughout their time at the school."

The highest achieving student was Isis Schmitt, who achieved three grade 9s and three grade 7s. Isis said "I am thankful for all of the support that the school has given me. Being a foreign student, I am especially delighted to get a grade 9 in English Literature”. She will go on to Nottingham College to study A levels in Computer Science and Spanish and a BTEC in Sports Studies.

Affan Minnoor was the highest achieving male student, achieving two grade 9s, one grade 8 and two grade 7s. Affan said “It is very rewarding to get two grade 9’s. I just want to thank all of the staff at Oakwood for their support. All of my hard work has been worth it.”. Affan will go to NUAST (Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology) to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.

A special mention to other Oakwood Academy students who achieved a Grade 9, the highest grade possible. Students who obtained a grade 9 were Judge Folorunso, Nora Pfortner and Lyla Rose Slater in History, Ella Prempeh in German and Roberta Lentini in Italian.

The Oakwood Academy is part of the Redhill Academy Trust. Students have benefitted from support from the trust throughout their time at Oakwood, including events to broaden their horizons, raise aspirations and support their progression to higher education.
