The Oakwood Academy – 2026 GCSE Results

The Oakwood Academy, part of Redhill Academy Trust, celebrated recent exam results this week achieving their outcomes ever. Over 65% of students achieved the important benchmark of obtaining at least a grade 4 in English and maths with 45% of students also achieving at least a grade 5 in both vital subjects.

Headteacher Mr Andrew Gilbert said: "This group of students were hard working and committed to their achievement. They worked well together and with staff, leading to outstanding individual performances and we are delighted that so many students have excellent results, reflecting their ability, effort and commitment.”

"They have been well prepared for their exams by our meticulous support initiatives and committed, skilled staff to whom I am grateful for their conscientious hard work in teaching, supporting and nurturing students throughout their time at the school."

The highest achieving student was Oliwia Pozniak who achieved three grade 9s in maths, history and Polish, and five grade 8s. Oliwia said 'I want to send a huge thank you to all to of my teachers, especially the staff who supported me in achieving my ten GCSEs. I also want to offer some advice to all future GCSE student and tell them to stress after the exams, not before!'. Oliwia is going on to study A Levels in maths, further maths, computer science and DT at Bilborough College.

Jakub Maryniec was the highest achieving male student, achieving one grade 9 in Polish and six grade 8s including English, Maths and Science. Jakub said' Shoot for the stars so if you fall you land on a cloud. I want to say a huge thank you to all my teachers and friends.' Jakub is going on to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths at High Pavements.

Special mention to student Lillie Mae Hall who collected some excellent results in all seven of her GCSEs demonstrating extreme resilience at her time at Oakwood after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2023. Lillie said 'Thank you to all of my teachers for the support throughout this difficult time'. Lillie is progressing to complete a Medical Administration Apprenticeship at Care Fertility.

A huge well done to other Oakwood Academy students who achieved Grade 9s or D*, the highest grades possible placing them in the top 3% of the country within that given subject. This year students achieved a collective 23 top grades across a range of subjects including English, maths, physics, history, PRE, hospitality, PE, health and social care and Polish.

The Oakwood Academy is part of the Redhill Academy Trust. Students have benefitted throughout their time at Oakwood via the support offered to them by the trust, including events to broaden their horizons, raise aspirations and support their progression to higher education.

Thank you

Andy Gilbert
