We have curry night that we did this Monday. Lots of students cooked curries for their families and made flatbreads from scratch. Some impressive presentation amongst them.

Virtual Master Chef Club explained…

How will it work?

On Mondays at 3.45pm, sign onto Teams to watch a live demonstration of the dish and cook alongside each other and the teacher. The club will run from 1st February to 30th March (8 school weeks). You will receive a recipe and ingredients list one week before each session via email. You will find the first week’s ingredients on the following page. Support with ingredients is available - please email r.sheppard@oakwoodacademy.org.uk for more information. Presence of an adult is advised for health and safety reasons.

What will we be cooking?

Expect dishes such as tarts, risotto, tortellini, curry, flatbreads, dumplings and desserts. Recipes will involve minimal equipment and will be adaptable to suit dietary requirements. Please inform me of any dietary requirements when signing up so I can adapt recipes for you in advance.

How will it be judged?

A guest judge will join the session to select a winner of each week’s dish. Students will present their dish on camera or send through a photo. At the end of the 8 weeks, there will be a final challenge where students compete for the Master Chef Champion title and prizes!

How do I sign up?

Parents / guardians should email r.sheppard@oakwoodacademy.org.uk to give permission for their child to take part in the sessions. Please copy the following text into the email… ‘I give consent for (student name) to take part in the Virtual Master Chef Club and present their dish on camera. I take full responsibility for ensuring there is suitable supervision provided for my child to cook safely’.
