Our School

The Oakwood Academy benefits from wonderfully spacious and light buildings, set in beautifully landscaped surroundings. This high quality provision ensures an inspiring learning environment, where our students can thrive academically and socially.

We believe examination success provides our students with the best opportunities in life, therefore we have the highest expectations of our students, and we are ambitious for them to achieve their academic potential. In addition, through engagement in the wider aspects of school, students develop the skills required for further and higher education and skilled employment. A rich programme of curriculum plus opportunities, student leadership, trips and visits and our successful Pledge initiative are just some of the ways students can enrich their education.

The Oakwood Academy is committed to ensuring students feel safe and secure. The experienced and dedicated pastoral team will support students to make the right decisions, engage fully in school life and monitor academic progress. We have a commitment to equality and inclusion that runs throughout the school catering for our diverse and wonderful community and student body.

We are proud to have recently been judged as a 'Good' school in all areas by Ofsted (July 2023) following a full inspection.

The team spent two days at our school, which is sponsored by Redhill Academy Trust, where they observed ‘high expectations’ and said that ‘pupils are happy and safe at this inclusive school’.

We are part of The Redhill Academy Trust and we believe that this partnership gives us the opportunity to continue our improvements and for the school to one day be recognised both locally and nationally as a truly outstanding school.

We share the five Redhill core principles:

  • We promote high expectations for all our students

  • We are committed to equality and diversity

  • We value and celebrate academic achievement

  • We aim to widen students’ experiences

  • We consistently deliver outstanding teaching
