Key Stage 4 Careers

Years 9, 10 and 11 careers programme will focus on the following:

Why Further Education (FE)?
Students will understand the benefits of Further Education and know what option pathways are possible. Year 11 they will undergo a mock interview with outside providers which will help them understand what is meant by a ‘Career’ and the consequences of some decisions with regard to their possible salary. And, to improve their interview skills.

Tutor/PSHE sessions supporting Careers
During tutor/PSHE time students will have the opportunity to use our purpose bought Careers Software, Jed and Higher Ideas. These sessions will enable students to research further education, apprenticeships for example. Students will also understand the Labour Market and why it is important to them and to identify and improve their Employability Skills.

Year 10 Work Experience
Students will be offered the opportunity to take part in a week of Work Experience, w/c 9th July - 13th July. Students need to research and find a placement themselves with the support of Ms Stokes in school.

Curriculum Vitae and the Application Process
Our careers officer can support students during the application process which begins in Year 11.  Students will be invited to make an appointment with Ms Stokes to go through the process following an assembly.

During Year 11 students will take part in a mock interview to prepare them for their future choices.

Students will have sessions to understand why we need a Curriculum Vitae and how to create a good CV and personal statement.
