House Points

Students and staff at The Oakwood Academy are placed into one of four Houses while they are at school, these are Animus, Certus, Robus and Virtus. They remain a member of this team throughout their time at the school.

We believe that students thrive when they receive praise for their effort, success in their studies, sport, music and other extra-curricular involvement in the life of the school.

Each House assembly includes time dedicated to celebrating a wide range of student achievement in addition to the House Point system.

This includes recognition of sporting, musical and academic achievement both within and outside the school.

Termly reviews of student effort and progress trigger letters home for all students who have sustained good and outstanding levels.

Within school, we have large TV screen notice board which is also used to broadcast immediate praise for students who have excelled or helped in notable ways.

House points can be awarded to students for a variety of reasons. For example:

  • Good Quality Homework
  • Exceptional Homework
  • Positive Attitude to Learning
  • Effort in Class
  • Learner of the Week Nominee
  • Star of the Week
