Duke of Edinburgh AwardD of E

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is exciting, challenging and a rewarding programme which can help develop your personal skills and improve your future prospects.

At The Oakwood Academy we organise and run the Bronze award for students aged 14, usually starting in Year 9.  Students can go on to complete their Silver Award whilst at school.

The Bronze Award consists of four sections which will be assessed:

  • Volunteering : 3 months
  • Physical : 3 months
  • Skills : 3 months
  • Expedition : Plan, train for and undertake a 2 day, 1 night expedition.
Expedition Training is completed by our DofE Leader, every Wednesday after school.

All participants must undertake a further 3 months in the Volunteering, Physical or Skills sections.

Why do your DofE?

  • Achieving an Award will give you skills, confidence and a view on life that everyone is looking for, from employers to colleges and universities.
  • You're getting recognised for doing things you want to do (and may even be doing already).
  • You'll make a difference to other people's lives and your community, be fitter and healthier, make new friends and have memories to last you a lifetime.
  • Ultimately this is your award, try something new, get off that XBox, phone or tablet, experience life!
