A welcome from the Director of Post-16 at The Redhill Academy

We are extremely proud of our Sixth Form. We have outstanding academic standards, excellent teaching and very high expectations of all our students. Last year for instance, 88% of Year 13 applied to go to university and all of them were successful in being offered a place. We always encourage our students to aim high and 50% of these students have continued on to top Russell Group universities.

The Sixth Form team consists of a Trust Director of Post 16, Head of Year 12, Head of Year 13 and a Sixth Form Administrator. Our job is to ensure that you leave Redhill reaching your full potential. You will also receive outstanding teaching and guidance, which will include your own dedicated Sixth Form Tutor. You will be closely monitored and supported to enable you to not only achieve excellent results, but to also grow into a person who will successfully take their place in society. The Redhill Academy Sixth Form is also driven by a desire to see students ‘aim high’ in life and, as such, actively encourages students to apply to university or advanced apprenticeship. We run a specially tailored and successful programme for students applying to Oxbridge or to study Medicine. We are thrilled that this year we have the largest number of students ever applying to Oxford and Cambridge and Medicine/Veterinary Medicine courses. We encourage all our Sixth Form students to become involved in the wider life of the school and we over opportunities for students to become Senior Leaders, as well as mentors, fundraisers and Subject Ambassadors, all of which helps to produce well-rounded individuals ready to take on the world.

If you require any further information, or would like a tour of the Sixth Form, please do not hesitate to contact us via the Sixth Form office. We look forward to meeting you all.

What do former students from The Oakwood Academy have to say about Redhill Sixth Form?

I play basketball and tennis for local teams amongst my hobbies. I am considering whether to undertake an apprenticeship with a degree or a straight degree course. What I like about Redhill is the teachers and the lesson length is just right for me. The on-site parking is a bonus!

I am planning on taking a gap year before university to gain work experience and save up some money by doing an apprenticeship. The teachers are really approachable and helpful. Northgate also offers good facilities to aid studies and well-equipped areas to aid work and lots of places to socialise in.

Sophie - Graduated from The Oakwood Academy June 2016

I think that I will go to university to do a History or Law degree. I have found that the teachers here are willing to go the extra mile. There are several after-school catch-up sessions and they are willing to give you extra resources if you are struggling. Also, many of the teachers put their resources on a shared drive which you can access at home.

James - Graduated from The Oakwood Academy June 2017

I want to work in the Civil Service and hope to study PPE at a university. My interests include politics and law. The teachers here offer support whenever you need it and there are lots of activities from the student union to sporting clubs for you to take part in.
